Gotta have plans! Life just rolls along with no focus if you don't have plans. This is how my life has been lately. I've got ideas, things I want to do and achieve, but no REAL goals.
Now I have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me give you some background first. My wonderful hubby has been saving into a fund since he was about 18 years old, that matures when he is 40 years young. He turns 40 in December 2010, so we get a great big wad of cash in June 2010. The plan was always to use it to go to the States and visit his Uncle in Florida, take the kids to Disneyland in Orlando, and as of late, the plan also included Ironman Florida for me.
Well, after we decided to start investigating the costs etc... we decided that the amount of money it was going to cost was absolutely ridiculous, when we could take 3 or 4 holidays with it! As much as we want to go the States, it just didn't seem worth it.
And then the new plan was born!
Next December, about a week before Paul turns 40, we are both going to do Ironman Western Australia in Bussleton, Perth.
We are going to use some of the hard earned, well saved money and leave the kids behind and both do the full Ironman race. There will be plenty left to take them on holiday somewhere warm the following winter! We won't feel guilty at all????!!!
The training is going to be the hardest part, but thankfully he doesn't mind training at night, where as I am a morning person. My awesome Mother in Law (see where Paul gets it from), is a home away from home for the kids, so if we do our big training day together in the weekend while she looks after them, that still leaves us a family day.
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, the plan now is for me to start my University programme in a couple of weeks to complete my Fitness Instruction certification. There are 4 papers to do, but completing 3 will give me enough to get most of the qualification and therefore being able to work in a gym if I want to. The 4th paper is to give me Personal Training certification, which I will complete in August 2010. This will give me time next summer and early winter to get in some good base training and mileage, take a break for my course for a month, and then still have 3 months of solid Ironman training to go. The next few months are going to see me quite busy studying, and also trying to lose the weight that has crept on over the last few months.
So, there you have it - our life is planned until December 2010. I'm pretty sure there will be some curve balls along the way, but that's the plan!
