Last night I did a little exploring to see what kind of “custom” running things are out there. Recently a friend designed his own Nike shoes; you pick the colors, style, and a word you want on the side.

This is Awesome!

I need new shoes, but don’t have the patience to wait for someone to make them and then ship them. More  so because I haven’t bought new shoes since Christmas and my feet are currently on Strike.  They really don’t appreciate logging hundreds of miles, only to be neglected (other than that Pedicure I gave them on Saturday. Gah, so spoiled).

Last night I wasn’t looking for shoes. Instead, I was looking around to see what kind of custom shirts/shorts/etc you can design yourself. I figure, if the shoe thing works, you could just go with an entire outfit, right?! Right, that would be so stylish.

I do realize there are actual Shops that do this, who hire real graphic designers, etc. However, I was sitting on my bed, computer in lap, and not moving. Most sites I found required a minimum order, designed around the “team” concept. It actually took a few creative search terms to finally land here, RunningBanana.com (through a blog post over on Runner’s Lounge ). Yes, because that name screams custom running designs.

I played around with their options; they offer running shirts designed for men and women, and you decide Exactly how you want it to look. Actually, you just write it out. “I want it to say _____ in the middle of the chest, 3 inches across, red letters….”. So easy!

They only charge $5 for shipping, but I have no idea how long it will take (standard, 5-10 business days? Who knows.).

I’ll get back to you with a FULL review when this product arrives. So far, I’m just happy I didn’t have to come up with 10 other people who would want the same exact shirt. Although, this does mean that maybe next time the Group runs a race together, I’ll volunteer my “skills” to come up with a shirt. ;)
