Hello, again!
I’ll need consistent reminders that today is Thursday – my brain is stuck on Friday, for no good reason. Between traveling, a three day weekend (no “monday” for me!), racing, catching up on blogs, running, and experimenting with my chili recipe (still delicious! just sayin’….) – I’m just a little thrown off.
This week started, and will end, with a race! I like this.
Let’s go back to Monday …..
5:00 p.m. Off the plane! Refreshed, happy to see sunshine in DC, and wanting to stretch the legs.
They weren’t sore, so….I changed in the airport bathroom, met my friend at her house (with all my Stuff), and she drove us down.
6:15 p.m. Meeting the Striders for our “normal” Monday routine!
7:51 – 7:49 – 7:52 – 7:42 – 7:38 (0.4)
4.4 mi – 34:08 – 7:45 avg
Hmmm, making up for your misbehavior yesterday?! The left foot was fine; my pace felt strong; this run was Much needed and I Loved it.

When Wednesday rolled around, I wanted something different. I had time for 4-5 miles, and thought maybe it’s time to revisit the Hills – we haven’t hung out in a while.
8:41 – 8:08 – 8:05 – 7:46 – 6:26 (0.2)
4.2 miles – 34:05 – 8:05 avg
The two biggest hills fall between miles 1.5 – 2.5; going out-and-back means, hello! you see them each twice. Fun, right? Ehhh. What I like about this run is seeing the difference between running the same two miles, backwards. 8:41 vs 7:46, really?? This is why I warm-up for ~1 mile before short races! Clearly the legs need a little time to do their own thing before deciding how they want to run for the day.

Oh, it’s Thursday! (Remind me again?)
Another group run is on the agenda tonight; Ivan and I plan to run to the Iwo Jima Memorial, getting a little taste of what Sunday’s ( Marine Corp Marathon ) 10K will feel like. A hill at the end of 6.2 miles? That’s nothing new to us. I’ve done this route a few times; it’s a little longer and a little more challenging than the flat “mall-run”. So, obviously, I said “Let’s do it!”
I’ll see what the pace does tonight; the “smart” thing would be keep-it-easy so the legs are fresh for Sunday. PR? Not gonna lie…..I’m hoping for it!
