Back to a little discussion on gluten free bread. I love seeded, whole grain, hearty breads. White sandwich bread does not totally cut it for me, but it will do in a pinch. I buy it when I'm craving bread or need vehicles for sandwiches, but I'm always on the lookout for the next best thing and I think I found it last week. What's even better is that I found it on sale. Yes, dear reader, I found this delicious, seedy, reminiscent of rye bread last week for under $5, which is practically bargain basement for GF bread, as my wallet and yours both know.
Kinnikinnick's Candadi bread is perfect for Rubens, or toasted and served as toast points, underneath of a sardine crudo, which is how we happened to serve it this weekend. Unlike other rice breads that I've had, it actually toasts brown and gets that crunchy texture that one associates with bread and leaves these little flakes behind. Crumbs, yes, that's it! This bread makes crumbs. Groundbreaking.
