Dynamic Stretching, SI Joint, and Pec Minor Release

Posted Oct 27 2011 6:00am

This week’s stuff you should read includes articles from Dean Somerset, Erson Religioso, and Sports Medicine Research.

Static or Dynamic Stretching: Which is Best for Performance?

A nice review at Sports Medicine Research on a new study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research examining static and dynamic stretching.  I don’t think this article will end the debate, but does offer some evidence for dynamic stretching.  As with most things, I am sure there is a combination that works best.  Regardless, more ammo to perform dynamic stretching.

Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction

Dean Somerset offers a nice review of some concepts regarding SI joint dysfunction.  Still a tricky area but something we are slowly getting better at treating.

Pec Minor Release

Erson Religioso posted a nice video demonstration of his pec minor release technique.  Erson has a lot of great videos and links on his manual therapy based blog.

50% Off Eric Cressey’s Show and Go Training Program with New Bonus

Eric Cressey is having a massive sale of his Show and Go program.  The price right now is hard to pass up, I have used the program myself and it is top notch.  In addition to a great program for yourself, you really get to know a lot about how Eric writes his programs and what components he values.  Pretty Cool.  The program is a steal during the sale, but this ends at the end of the day on Friday before the price goes back up.  Eric just added another bonus for those that purchase the program by the end of the day today (thursday), a new “Warm Ups 2011″ program showing how his athletes prepare.  The bonus ends tonight and the sale ends tomorrow so don’t delay!   Click here for more information .

See Me Speak at the Boston Sports and Shoulder Symposium

Also, don’t forget to register for the New England Baptist Hospital’s Boston Sports and Shoulder Symposium course the first weekend of November.  I will be presenting a couple of topics on functional stability training of the core (a sneak peak of FunctionalStability.com) and manual therapy for the athletic shoulder.  But trust me, I am not even close to being a highlight of the course, there are 20+ speakers on the panel that you don’t want to miss.  Swing by and say hi to me as well!   Click here for more information .
