Health knowledge made personal
Elika came to the path of yoga in 2000 by chance when she injured her back and was looking for physical relief. As a longtime dancer and fitness professional, she was amazed to find not only her body growing stronger, but her mental and spiritual connection deepening as a result of this practice. Elika is grateful for this period of rehabilitation because it allowed her to learn to be present and find contentment in all circumstances.
Elika believes ?we find our center through the flow of yoga which helps us to more mindfully maneuver ourselves through our daily lives and hectic schedules while still finding moments of bliss everyday. As one starts to live from a deeper place, we experience a richness that leads us to commune with our expression of the Divine.?
Elika incorporates her studies of various styles of yoga with the fluidity of the vinyasa system, to create an environment that allows each student freedom in each pose, while still emphasizing the therapeutic benefits of alignment. Her classes blend the strength of a flowing dance with insightful postures to restore and revitalize the entire body from the outer to the innermost levels.
In 2005, Elika completed her 200-hr certification at Peachtree Yoga Center and then went on to deepen her knowledge of prenatal yoga, by completing the Whole Birth? Yoga Teacher Training, which incorporates the practice of mindfulness and yoga to help bring greater well-being during the childbearing year. Along her path she has had the opportunity to study with such gifted teachers as Shiva Rea, John Friend and Sarah Powers. Currently, Elika is pursuing her 500-hr Prana Vinyasa Teacher Certification with Shiva Rea. Elika feels blessed by all the wisdom her teachers have shared with her and for the ability to pass these gifts on to others
