Yesterdays Activites, as June Cleaver

Posted Jan 04 2013 8:05am
Good Morning! Happy Friday.  Friday’s are never really special to me since I spend most of the weekends at work BUT Happy Friday for the rest of you.

FIRST: I FIXED THE COMMENT BOX.  So now anyone can comment on a post.

My activities yesterday included folding laundry, grocery shopping with two children, running up a bunch of hills in the dark, and cooking a gourmet meal that was pretty amazing. Josh placed it in his top 10 favorite meals. I placed it in my list of future restaurant menu items.

Folding laundry with my big helper.  Yes, we eat popcorn and ice water while we fold.  It’s tradition… Not really, it just sounded really good yesterday.  Maybe we will make it a tradition.

Growing up, my mom would always make a big glass of ice water (it had to have a lot of ice) when we ate popcorn.  I guess it’s one of those things that stuck with me.  For the record: Ice water makes popcorn taste better.

I was pretty excited that the grocery store I went to had spices on clearance!  The good brand too! Regularly $6-$8 I stocked up on them for $2 each.  I was so excited about this. It made the trip with cranky kids worth it.

I’m stocked! They go all the way to the back of the shelf. :-)

After Josh got home from work I headed out for my run.  It was dark and the side walks were still icy so I knew that getting a long run in was no option.  Not to mention I still had to cook dinner and it was already almost 6pm.  I ended up running the biggest hills I could find. Where I live, hills are not hard to find.  I did 2.5 miles worth of big hills and called it a night.

After the run I made my first original gourmet meal. Ribeye  Steak with a Balsamic Reduction Sauce or “Black Coconut Oil” as I like to call it, Blue Cheese Mashed Potatoes, and Grilled Asparagus

The quick cell phone picture really doesn’t do it justice but it was almost 8 by the time it was done and we were both starving.

Question:  What is your favorite meal to order at a restaurant?

Anything special you want to see me recreate?
