WIAW Vitamins and Simple Switches

Posted Aug 21 2013 6:00am

Have you seen the commercial with the camel? To be honest, I’m not even sure what the commercial is for but it cracks me up every time I see it.  The camel goes around asking people what day is it…. Wednesday… That’s right HUMMMMPP DAAAYY!!! Wha Wha!?

Oh, funny funny.

Morning hump day thing to think about…

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

Ready for WIAW now!? I sure am.

Breakfast was…. of course, oatmeal and blueberries. No picture needed since I eat that every single day of my life.

Instead of having an egg, I chose an energy bar for my protein.  These are my favorite!  All natural, Nutrilite chocolate nut bars.   Along with that I had a Rhodiola  along with my other vitamins.

I told you guys last week I’d explain why I take vitamins and what I take.  I made a whole page about it so you can read everything here .

I felt great and was ready to run.  I headed to the gym after dropping off little man and was actually excited to get my run in.

Training Run: I did 60 minutes @ 1 incline @ 8:30 pace.  I pushed it and it felt so so so good.

Lunch was simple… A salad with blue cheese yogurt dressing and my protein of choice yesterday was white beans.

For dessert…. Chobani yogurt, cocoa almonds, and pineapple.  This was one of the best things I’ve thrown together in a while!

So after last weeks WIAW, Josh pointed out to me that Emerald brand cocoa nuts have artificial flavoring in them.  So I looked at the package and sure enough… he was right.   I have now switched to blue diamond brand.  Since then, I thought I’d do a quick little list of small changes I’ve made to make a difference in my and my family’s health.

First up…. Emerald nuts vz Blue Diamond.  Blue Diamond brand is all natural.

Next, Yogurt.  I am in love with Chobani now a days.  It’s all natural.  I used to eat Yoplait light but after years I finally looked at the label and discovered that it’s sweetened with Aspartame. NOT GOOD. That won’t be in my grocery cart ever again.

Salad dressing.  I love Bolthouse farms brand salad dressings.  Have you ever looked at the label on some other brands?  High fructose corn syrup is usually one of the top ingredients.

Other things that usually contain a lot of high fructose corn syrup are ketchup and jelly.  It’s simple to switch these out for healthier versions.

I fixed my hair yesterday for the first time in a while… I figured since Scarlet and Braiden can’t leave the house anymore without fixing their hair… I should probably make more of an effort too.

I had to work in the evening yesterday so my dinner was pretty much all snacks.  A spoonful of this, a spoonful of that.

Talk to me, Friends!?

Do you take vitamins?

What’s the best quick “dessert” you make?

Do you need something sweet after meals?
