Labour MP and former deputy priminster John Prescott has spoken out about his battle with bulimia; consuming large amounts of food and purging to rid the stress which overwhelmed him every day. He kept the eating disorder a secret for years during his politcal career; ed's make us feel ashamed, terrified of losing friends and jobs, the worry that you'll be caught out is constant.
Yet the worry you'll be nothing without it is as strong. My hat is off to Mr Prescott for publicly admitting to the illness, hopefully he can help bring awareness that ed's can affect anyone.
And with disclosing he spent £4000 a year on food expenses, he shows how expensive this disorder can be. He urges anyone suffering to seek medical help, keeping it hidden only makes the disorder progress.
Itv's This Morning is running a segment on eating disorders among men tomorrow morning from 10:30am.
