Seeing this video made me think of the ways that we can stay active throughout the Winter. We’ve been lucky in Toronto and the GTA with the lack of snow and cold. Here is a list of 5 ways that you can stay active outside for the next couple of months:
1. Go skating: Rent or borrow some skates and head out to Nathan Phillip Square, Mel Lastman Square, or other outdoor rinks in the city or suburbs.
2. Take a walk: Bundle up and take a walk. It is really refreshing. Walk to the grocery store or mall instead of driving.
3. Play in the snow: If we get any! Make a snowman, shovel the driveway, make a fort, go tobogganing. It’s a load of fun.
4. Find a Winter festival to attend: Walk around the Sugar Bush Maple Syrup Festival and learn how maple syrup is harvested. If you can’t find a festival, think about going to the zoo or a park. There are a lot less crowds than in the Summer.
5. Learn a Winter sport: Try skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, or even go hiking.
If all of this doesn’t work for you…join a gym, try yoga, sign up for an indoor sport like swimming at a community centre, or an organized league like soccer or basketball.
Hope you can find something to keep you active that you like!
