Hey everyone! We just got back from the St. Louis St. Patrick’s Day 5 Mile run. We had a great time. Josh and I woke up and it was 65 degrees outside. PERFECT! I put on some Capri’s and my short-sleeved shirt and we headed up to the city. After going around in circles trying to find a parking lot that took a debit card we finally got a good spot a block away from the starting line. We had just enough time to hit the bathrooms and line up. Josh stayed with me until it got really close to the start time. Then he pushed his way to line up with the rest of the Elites. There were over 9000 people running this year!
I felt really good the whole race. I made the mistake of not eating breakfast but I stayed positive and steady the whole race. I wish I would have tried to start closer up because I spent the first mile trying to get away from everyone and passing people who were walking. Josh Finished in 36:20. I finished in 52:31. I was happy with that time for not training as much as I would have liked.
After the finished Josh and I spent over 40 minutes trying to find each other in the crowd. Note for next time: Determine a meeting spot.
By the end of the race it was 40 degrees and we were ready to get out of there and warm up. We skipped the beer and the food, grabbed a water and headed to the car. I wish I would have gotten more pictures. The only one I got was a candid shot at the starting line. I almost wasn’t going to post it because I don’t like how I look in it but I figured I needed to give you a little proof that I was there.
I was dissapointed I didn’t get to meet up with Claire . We were in such a hurry to warm up and didn’t bring jackets or anything we booked it to the car as fast as we could.
