Where did my vacation time go? Tomorrow I have to go back to teaching my junior high kiddos. I don't wanna (in a whining voice)....and the following week my last semester of graduate school. Can we slow time down? I did spend my last day browsing Borders (I could spend HOURS there) and going to see Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Squeak-qul. So cute....oh those chippettes :)
Last night was crazy drama but I guess that's what happens when you have a large group of people, alcohol, and exes (thankfully none of mine) involved. You might remember that I won a free Happy Hour party at our school's holiday auction which I finally decided to cash in last night at
BlackFinn American Saloon.
Basically we had free food and 1/2 price all the drinks at the bar. My poison of choice for the night was several Patron tequila sunrises. I figured at least I was getting some Vitamin C from the orange juice, right? We had a pretty good turnout of about 16 people....

Me and the bestie Emily who had been MIA for such a long time! I told you life gets crazy.

Rosie and her hubbie Carlos

Crystal, myself, and Barbara

Leila, my head, and Reuben

More peeps

Matt, me (check out my fabulous leather bomber jacket I received for Christmas making its debut), and Nat

Justin and Cat (causes of stupid drama)

All in all it was a fun night. We ended up staying later to watch the Texas Tech bowl game but I wasn't as into it because they weren't my Longhorns (that's Thursday). Even though I was surrounded by friends I still felt somewhat awkward and uncomfortable being out in that social situation. I've tried for so long to avoid bars/nightclubs because of the insecurity I end up feeling. And note to self to myself and everyone: don't get a facial a couple of days before an event. Maybe it's just me and my sensitive skin but I had a major flare-up in the center of my face which no amount of make-up could cover...adding to my insecurity. It never fails to break out after a deep cleansing.
Food for thought: Oats, 1/2 a chopped red delicious, 1/2 cup pumpkin, 1/2 a sliced banana, pumpkin seeds, flax, and FAGE 2% Greek yogurt.

Amy's Organic soups are on sale at Whole Foods for 2/$4 so I stocked up on the light in sodium line. Today featured the minestrone soup with some add-ins. I heated it on the stove-top (so much better than the microwave in my opinion) and threw in 1/2 a chopped apple, some pumpkin, spinach, and a baked tilapia cut up.

On the side (but later crushed as a topping for my soup) these new crackers I also picked up: Kavla's golden rye crispbread.

Fantastico!!!! The pumpkin made the soup thicker while the apple added a tinge of sweetness. Tilapia increased the protein count and I am one happy full tummy :) Perfect for a chilly day like today.

I'm off to prepare for work tomorrow...grrr. Have a restful night y'all!
