Yesterday, Josh and Braiden were gone for the morning helping a friend move and then they spent some father/son time at Cracker Barrel. That’s one of Braiden’s favorite places because they have “baby” bottles syrups for your pancakes.
While they were gone, I took Scarlet to the gym so I could get my run in before the boys got back. I was supposed to do 10 but ended up doing a faster 6 because I was too busy talking to a friend before I started and lost track of time. I felt great. I started at a 9:30 pace and every other mile I turned it up to a 9:10 pace.
I love getting better. I love having a goal. I just love running. Have I said that before? I remember a year ago I couldn’t run a mile without stopping and I never dreamed I’d be training to run 26.2 miles one day and actually ENJOY doing it. My life has changed for the better and I couldn’t be happier. Family, Running, the Blog… I’ve found my purpose.
These cocoa roasted almonds may be my new favorite after run snack, along with a banana. I go bananas for bananas.
After the boys got back we went to the very busy park. It was a beautiful Saturday so all the parks were packed. After the park we went for our first frozen custard of the spring/summer! A local place around where I live called “Riches” is the place to go for the best frozen custard. Don’t say ice cream there… they’ll correct you.
It’s a daddy, mommy, and two baby custards. Awe. Josh got the Turtle sundae that has caramel, fudge, and nuts. I got a Wally’s sundae that has brownies, fudge, a whipped cream. The kids wanted just plain chocolate with no toppings. Weirdos.
I’m pretty positive I made a good decision, going with the Wally’s. Mostly because Josh lets me steal some of his too.
The kids had a blast and were definitely worn out and a tad bit cranky by the end of the day. They went to bed early without a fight and Josh and I spent the rest of the night on the couch watching the UFC fights.
Today is a rest day on the training schedule and I’m back to work. Have a good day everyone!
