And it's cousins: Resting doesn't mean we aren't working. Resting doesn't mean we aren't making progress. Resting doesn't mean we've "given up" in any way. Resting doesn't mean we're weak... I bet I could go on for a bit, but you get the idea here...
Remember how our muscles work- if we use them they respond by building themselves stronger, and the way they do that is to tear a bit and reconstitute stronger and more powerful. It takes them some time to achieve this rebuilding, and if we don't allow them the rest they need (ie- if we continue to use them when they need to have some quiet time) they become fatigued, overworked and eventually injured or weaker.
