GiGi was my first foodie pen pal. I sent her a box of stuff from around my home town and she was nice enough to write a guest post for me! She made me cry.
Anticipation, it’s making me wait. Definitely worth the wait. I was so excited to open up my box from Ashley this month. Opening the box, reminds me of opening up a Christmas gift from a special friend.
I am honored to be Ashley’s first Foodie Pen Pal.
I loved how Ashley shared her favorite items from St. Louis and Kimswick.
Texas is known for their BBQ, as is St Louus. I was so excited Ashley works for a great BBQ joint called The Bandana. The BBQ is truly amazing. Sweet and smoky! What a winning sauce.
Growing up in Vicenza, Italy I love, love, love pizza. I’m looking forward to making the famous St. Louis style pizza. Ashley sent me Imo’s pizza sauce and a wonderful salad dressing marinade Ashley wrote out the recipe to make the perfect pizza. Her parting words were, “make the pizza, then you MUST I repeat MUST cut into squares. No slices here!
Anybody who knows me, knows I’m a huge fan of Paula Deen. Take a look at my photos very carefully. I used my Paula Deen apron as a prop to show off all my great food items. I was so excited to see Ashley included some tasty treats from the Blue Owl Restaurant and Bakery. The Blue Owl has been featured on Paula Deen’s show. The Blue Owl is known for their famous desserts. Eat your heart out Paula. Ashley sent me a Gooey Butter cookie. Reminds me of your Gooey Butter cakes. I brought the homemade turtle cookie on my trip to Corpus. Christi this week. What a great treat to have when I got back to the hotel.
Ashley also included a wonderful treat- Heavenly Hash. Definitely a taste of heaven. Wow!!!
My favorite item on the box meant the world to me. Ashley drew a picture of a sunflower and wrote the following words: The best meals are seasoned with love. The sunflowers hold a very special place in my heart. Many summers ago, I visited my grandmother in Pittsburgh. I planted sunflowers on her garden. My uncle sent me a picture of how tall my sunflowers grew. My mom and I would always send each other sunflower themed goodies. My mom passed away last August. I look forward to purchasing a frame to hang Ashley’s masterpiece in my kitchen.
Thank you Lindsay for bringing Ashley and I together through FPP. I have a friend for life. Thank you Ashley for all of the great goodies. I’m truly blessed to have you as a friend.
