Day 1, 2013

Day 1 of the new year didn’t go as I had planned.  Feeling horrible, falling asleep at 10, waking up feeling even worse, not running our new year race because the weather man called for ice and we canceled our sitter. (It didn’t ice) It just all around wasn’t what I pictured in my mind of how I was going to start the 2013.

  “The thing that screws us up most in life is the picture in our heads of how things are supposed to be.”  – I can’t remember who said it.

Breakfast was pretty good.  I made eggs with as many veggies as I could throw in them and topped it with goat cheese.

Lunch was a salad


Dinner was some pretty good Cajun turkey burgers stuffed with peppers and onions along side a teeny tiny baked potato.

My total calories for the day was around 1200.  Today was the first day I actually counted calories so forgive me if tomorrow’s weigh in isn’t what you are expecting.  I’m kind of prepared for it to not be a huge change.

I wanted to start off 2013 by running 13 miles.  That, my friends, did not happen.  I wasn’t even feeling up to getting off the couch but I was determined to turn the day around.  Okay, I wasn’t determined but I did get a pretty good pep talk from Josh.

I made it 5.


I’m not going to lie, this run was miserable.  My nose and lips were burning, I was dodging ice patches on the side walks and at some points even had to hold on to the fence so I wouldn’t fall on my butt.  After it was over, I was glad I did it.  It kind of shows that there will be no excuses for me this year.

Now it’s time to stuff some toilet paper up my nose, take some cold medicine, and fall asleep watching season 3 of The Walking Dead we recorded.
