I thought our Bumper Sticker of the Week could be another in our "dare to..." series: Dare to Lessen Your Grip.
How about that for a Bumper Sticker??? Notice I didn't suggest Dare to Let Go. And I didn't for a reason- for all you perfectionists out there who would be black and white about it and feel like the only thing that counts is if you "totally, 100% let go" and that of course is SO not the point.
If we try to "lessen our grip" we have a better chance of it not seeming so daunting and of not scaring ourselves away from the project.
You can think of trying to lessen your grip just a tiny, tiny bit- maybe even almost imperceptibly to start with. As a project, pick any situation, anything- doesn't matter- could be trusting a friend, eating an apple, reducing workout time, any place in your life that might be "over-controlled" or "rigid"... and imagine what it might mean to lessen your grip just a little bit. Then, after imagining it for awhile, you might even want to try it! But remember, the point is to "be small" about it. Don't go for "huge" or nothing will happen (well, except you'll get really frustrated).
