Friday night was my first STLBloggers meet up and I had a blast!
Let’s go back to 2 hours before I left for the event. I was running around trying to find something to wear. I ended up going with the same jeans I’d worn the past 3 days and the shirt I wore on Christmas eve. Note to self: Buy more clothes. I was nervous to meet everyone. After checking out all of their blogs I felt like I knew them a little bit but meeting in person is a whole different thing.
I went the whole 9 to get ready, waxed my eyebrows and my mustache… it’s cold here still so there was no reason to shave my legs.
I even had the thought cross my mind to wear my Spanx I had bought 4 years ago. Okay, it wasn’t just a thought. I put them on and turns out, I must have bought a size too small or I got bigger , they shrank… They sure sucked everything in, but where they ended on my thighs is where all that sucked in stuff came out! I had to laugh at the sight. It was ridiculous. I looked fine without those uncomfortable things. I’ll leave the wearing of the Spanx to the ladies on the red carpet.
Remember this outfit?
I got myself ready, made the kids a frozen pizza, (Schnucks has all natural, gluten-free pizza now! How cool is that?) and as soon as Josh got home from work, I was out the door. I wasn’t sure my 99′ Saturn was up for the hour drive so I borrowed Josh’s Car.
Ces and Judy’s Catering hosted the event. I was nervous driving by myself since I suck at directions. I had my radio turned down for nothing because Ces and Judy’s was very easy to find. It’s located at 10405 Clayton Rd. St. Louis MO, 63131.
I’ve never been good at the whole fashionably late rule and ended up sitting in my car for 15 minutes waiting for 6:30 to roll around.
As soon as I walked through the big double doors I knew this place was going to be beautiful. Beautiful, it was. The entrance made for a great first impression and we were greeted right inside.
After walking through the beautiful entrance, I walked into an equally beautiful event space. It was a round room with a dome ceiling, featuring a fireplace, a huge round light fixture, and two stair cases leading to a balcony with a beautiful ornate cast iron railing.
The room was set up for 25 people (This room can hold 80 their ball room can hold up to 250), with round tables and white table settings complete with personalized menus for us.
Before the food was served Jenna , the marketing coordinator for Ces and Judy’s told us about the venue and about their catering business.
I had the pleasure of sitting next to Jenna at dinner. She is a very nice, genuine person. This catering company is a company that cares about every detail and will go above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience.
Then it was food time! You know you’re at a blogging event when they tell you it’s time to eat and then the next 15 minutes is spent taking pictures of the food before anyone digs in.
I told you the Menu already but just to recap and show you more pictures of food I’ll go over it again. EVERYTHING was delicious.
First was a mixed lettuce salad with dried cranberries, blue cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
Next was the Chicken Marsala.
These are Beef Tenderloin Skewers with Lemon Caper Aioli. The beef was cooked perfectly. Browned on the outside, pink on the inside. The lemon Caper Aioli…Heaven. Seriously. I will have to try to recreate this somehow.
The sides were Orzo Pasta and Green Beans with Caramelized Onions… You know how I feel about caramelized onions. Needless to say, they were both really, really good.
It’s the little touches like this that makes an event special.
My plate was loaded and I ate every last bit of it.
With a dessert tray like this… how could I say no. Okay, I could have but I wasn’t gonna. There were brownies, cheesecake, rice crispy treats, and lemon bars.
I had a Cheese Cake, Lemon Bar, and half for a Brownie… Because a whole brownies would have been over kill, right?
Meeting everyone was such a great experience and I made a lot of new Blends (Blogger Friends.) I learned a lot about blogging and it was great to talk to more experienced bloggers. It’s always great to be with people who you feel are “your own kind.” Where else is it socially acceptable to tweet, Facebook post, take pictures of your food, of yourself, of the ceiling or feet while at a dinner event?
I met Lindsay , Courtney , Jenna , Katie , Karen , Rachel , Clair , Yokasta , Christina , Jill and Jenny (who put this event together)
They were all wonderful!
Lindsay told me about a workout class that I’m pretty sure was designed just for me. It’s called TurboKick. It’s a mixture of Kick boxing and Dancing… Hello! We are going to get together and take a class on weekend. I’m really excited for all the opportunities coming my way, all the experiences of the future and getting to know my new blends even better.
Ces and Judy’s Catering has the motto of being “Dazzling and Delicious.” It really and truly was.
Talking about blogging and fitness while eating a great dinner and being home by 9:30 is my kind of Friday night. I even thanked Josh for letting me borrow his car by reprogramming his radio stations to the good ones
