Art In The Family- Kelsey

Posted May 17 2013 3:22pm
HAPPY FRIDAY!!! I’m very happy it’s Friday.  I have two days off and a whole laundry list of things I have to get done… speaking of, laundry is going as we speak.  Very few things better than freshly washed sheets with downy fabric softener.

This morning was spent going to three different grocery stores, getting my car inspected and failing miserably (that’s okay.. deep breath) and then coming back home and putting a cranky kid down for a nap and talking with my sister who stopped by for a visit.  Every time I talk to her I just get to inspired and want to get out my drawing pencils and create something.  Oh happy days.

Today, I’m dedicating a post just to her.   As you guys all know she is an AMAZING photographer.  For years she’s been working and creating art with what she had, working her way up Canon by Canon.  Finally, she has a place for her to display and sell her beautiful works.  All you St. Louisians out there need to check out her space at the Soulard Art Market!

Kelsey Cook- Bio

“I am an emerging artist in the St.Louis area who experiments with double exposure photography and various off-the-wall techniques in both digital as well as film photography.  I specialize in portraits, yet I tend to dip into different styles as well.  I enjoy creating images that bring out emotions in those that view them.
I create pieces to reflect different times in my life.  A group of photos called “Night Terrors” was inspired by a series of reoccurring dreams and nightmares that have haunted me since my childhood.  I turn these fears into works of art that can be shared with others to interpret in their own way.
I am currently working on mixed media pieces featuring acrylic paint and various objects on top of photographs.  I am continuing to learn and grow as an artist, as I hope I always will.”
Her Blog: She has her own room at the Soulard Art Market and also has some works in the current exhibit going on called “Heros.” Here are some pictures from some of her recent shoots.    For more art and info check out her blog, her space at Soulard, and the Soulard website!
