Florida Reports Prescription Pills Kill Far More Than Cocaine, Heroin

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the Florida state Medical Examiners Commission has released a report finding that deaths from prescription drugs have surpassed those of illegal drugs.
A statewide report on drug-related deaths shows that the number of fatalities from prescription drugs continues to eclipse those caused by illegal drugs such as heroin and cocaine.The painkiller oxycodone, a class of anti-anxiety drugs that includes brand names such as Xanax and Valium, and the heroin-addiction-treatment drug methadone caused the most drug-related deaths in Florida during the first half of the year, according to a report by the state Medical Examiners Commission.
