Hey Dr. Geoff

I know the contest is pretty silly, but I would love to win Wellsphere's Health Blogger Award

I would appreciate it if you could <a href="http://www.wellsphere.com/voteBlogger.s?bloggerId=92707">cast a vote for me.</a>

It might even boost your good karma.

Dr geoff, I read your reply about the five hour energy drink and as a doctor myself I have a couple of questions maybe you can help me with. I drink one cup of coffe a day usually starbucks in the AM and thats it. What is strange and I agree with you that 5 hour energy should only have as much as a cup of coffee but let me tell you this stuff really makes it possible for this 45 yrd old to run 5 miles three times a week. There is something more in this. Is it the high B12 and if so i guess that blows my theory that B 12 does nothing more that a placebo effect with patients that swear by it for energy. I'm confused can you help me figure this one out? Dr Dan McGrath drdan@mcgrathmedical.com

Dr. Geoff,

That sounds like a nice bike and I do believe that the builder is now retired which makes the ride even more collectable. If you are not racing I would just hang up the wheels as they are and purchase a new set.

I feel that the biggest bang for the buck nowadays are a good set of wheels and yes your Campy gear was and still is great. But for low maintanence wheels I would go with a good set of clinchers. They won't have the feel of the tubies but wear much better and are a lot easier to repair when they go flat.

The time it would take to rebuild you a sey of clinchers on your old hubs I feel would not be worth the effort with the many types and price ranges of new wheelsets out there.

Not too many folks around nowadays that would take the time to learn how to unstitch, repair and then stitch up a tubular tire nowadays... but maybe a surgeon might. Ha.

There are a lot of great makers of wheelsets out there now including the beloved Campy, It just depends on what you want to spend and what you expect out of a set of wheels.
