First, let me explain that we have noisy, nocturnal cats. They like to paw at our door and meow outside of our bedroom door ALL night. So, we solved this by locking the cats in the laundry room at night. I'll tell you a quick story of how this didn't work out too well at first. Fat Kitty learned that if she jumped up and hit the door knob (well it was more of a handle than a knob) then the door would open. The first time she got out, we thought we didn't close the door all of the way. We put her back away, and she got out again. So the next day we changed it to a regular knob and have never had an issue with it again.
So back to what happened sometime during the night last night. The cats or maybe just one cat knocked over our new gallon of bleach in the laundry room. Thank God none of it landed on any of our clothes, but the cats didn't fare so well. Ryan smelled bleach this morning when he was up. Poor Ryan, he discovers the bleach incidents all the time. I am sure he thought Gabi did it again. He went into the laundry room and was immediately smacked with the awful fumes escaping the room. Bleach was all over the floor. The cats he said were doing really bad from the fumes. He put our indoor cats (one of which is de-clawed) outside so they could have some fresh air while he cleaned up the mess. It is now 6 hours after they were discovered, and our cats are still alive. They are eating, drinking, and peeing, and I have even caught Hollis playing once. However they are also still hacking, sneezing, coughing and have a glazed look over their eyes.
I am hoping they recover. Honestly, I can't afford to take them to the vet, nor do I think they could do anything for them. They damage is done, and we may have knocked 4 or 5 of their 9 lives off as a result.
And as for my Wordless Wednesday/ Special Exposure Wednesday post... well I was running a fever again last night and just went to bed. Now, it is so late in the day that I think I'll just wait until next Wednesday for my next one.
