I started this project nearly three and a half years ago. It has survived two relationships, my divorce and having another child.
It's my "baby" in a number of ways.
That being said, I'm very near to ending it permanently.
I've stopped taking afghan orders and am working as quickly as possible to finish up my thirty (plus) afghans in the queue.
The current family has had the traveling afghan for nearly four months! Admittedly, I'm a bit angry, frustrated and fed up. This isn't the first time this has happened. I'm not calling out any one family. People have kept the afghan for weeks (and even months) before.
My frustration is not the result of one family or occurance, but numerous.
I have asked repeatedly for photos of kiddos with their afghans. I have asked for photos of people with the Traveling Afghan. I have asked for updated photos of kiddos who have had their afghans for YEARS.
I get one, maybe two, photos.
I just don't get it.
If I continue the project, I am closing down areas as they receive the afghan. If it ever makes it on to Germany, that will close out any further sign ups in that area. Once a US state is visited, that state will be closed to future sign ups.
I guess I am simply at a loss. I can't force someone to pass on the afghan, I can only ask nicely. Repeatedly. And accept promises of passing it on.
