Robin's comment

Robin left a comment at my post on Judy Blume's special Mother's Day greeting with a defense of Planned Parenthood.  Although she began by asserting:

I know you won't post this Barbara. I think you are so small-minded.

she then presented some facts which I would have been happy to run - if for no other reason than to prove that I'm not small minded :) 

However, she closed with:

Also, who are you to be so vindictive and nasty not allow another American citizen her opinion/ Apparently no one is entitled to anything (opinions, beliefs) except you. If someone challenges your opinions or beliefs you are being abused and martyred but you feel free to send nasty notes to someone else. That's more than a bit hypocritical and highly un-Christian of you.

I sent this email to Robin:

Robin, I would be happy to publish your comments if you stick to principles and not personalities.  I was ready to publish your comment until I got to this last paragraph which is an ad hominem attack.,

First of all, I ran this as a news piece with no personal comment.  So how is that being vindictive or nasty?  And did I say Judy Blume isn't entitled to her opinion?  I am entitled to publish it and everyone is entitled to have an opinion about it.

And I really detest when people accuse any Christian they disagree with as being un-Christian.  So unimaginative.

I sent this as a private email, but Robin had used a phony email address.  So much for strength in your convictions. 

Robin, if you're reading and would like to get your message out in defense of Planned Parenthood, try a little civil discourse. That's what will get you published here - no matter what your opinion.
