Tonight after soccer practice, Kassidy and her team got to go to a game at the Air Force Academy to see the women's team play. Kassidy asked Frank if he could go with her since he loves soccer as much as she does, so this made a great daddy/daughter date for the two of them (and all her teammates and all their parents! haha). One of the other moms picked up a bunch of pizzas on the way and they were set for an evening of fun...
Until...
The other team (Weber State University from Utah) kicked the ball really hard and it went flying off the field right towards Kass... and hit her smack in the face... and knocked her flat on her back. Hey, college girls kick
hard, what can I say?!
Frank said the entire game stopped.
Both coaches came over, the player who kicked the ball came over, the ref and trainer came over, and once she was assessed and she assured everyone she was ok, the game went on.
And Kass was deemed awesome for toughing it out.
Because
really, I would have cried.
But that's why I don't play soccer. ;)
Here is a picture of her after she got home... one cheek is a little swollen from where she got hit, but both cheeks are red because it's
freaking freezing a little chilly outside!
They came home armed with hot chocolate for them and for me and Kam who spent the evening hanging out with me playing games while he filled me in on Colorado State Facts. Did you know that where the Colorado River starts, it's so narrow that you can straddle it? Well, now you do. ;)
