I am blessed. I am blessed because my child has an extra chromosome. Many of you may know it as Down syndrome.
What does this mean?
First of all, he is no different than any other three year old. He walks, he talks, he loves being outdoors and running around. He watches Sesame Street, he plays with his brothers and his sister, he wrestles with his dad.
My husband and I joke all the time that he is our easiest kid so far. All you have to do is plug him in to eat, (he has a g-tube) he doesn't run fast enough that we can't catch him, and he also tells on himself before doing something that he knows he shouldn't.
Don't get me wrong, we have had our fair share of issues with him, and life isn't always a bowl of cherries, but when you tuck in those sweet chubby little hands at night and watch his chest gently rise up and down as he drifts deeper and deeper into sleep, you realize that life is perfect, and although your family has a new normal. It's a wonderful place to be.
