New Challenge Ideas

Posted Dec 12 2008 3:47pm

Here's the rub. Either use them...or don't. It's all about doin' what you want in the Get It Down, 31 for 21 Blog Challenge!

That said, I need a little motivation sometimes (and no offense, but a couple of YOU do too!) hahahahaha...just yankin' your chains. In all actuality, I am THRILLED by the overwhelming response and great writing and I am still, as of minutes ago, getting new people asking to join (so keep checking the link list to find other great blogs to read)! I am having a good time (when I am not thinking "Oh bugger, what have I gotten myself into). I hope you're having a more or less good time too.

But seriously...

I would be lying if I didn't say that I fret at night (and only on Day 3--yeesh!) about what I am going to post about the next day. I said I was going to aim for posting something meaningful, and while I think I have said some meaningful things--do pictures of my daughter holding a cookie count?--I don't know...I guess the key word here is TRY. What happens happens. And let's face it, life gets in the way--as it should! Besides, there are no judges here. I am my own harshest critic! And I am willing to bet many of you are your own harshest critics as well.

Anyway, keep up the great work everybody. And remember the best part about it...no rules! Blog about DS if you want, but don't feel like you have to. The best part of wakin' up, is...showing up? I am mixing metaphors and jingles, so I will get on with it.

The other day I posted about fellow blogger Amy's essay on NPR's This I Believe. I have always loved listening and reading those TIB essays and thought it would make a good exercise. The first idea:

Write about your beliefs. Begin with the words "I believe" and go from there. You can write about anything, your cat, ice cream, Atari, God. Whatever you want. You can write a series of sentences, or you can write an essay. Whatever compels you. The title of your post can be "I Believe" while the body consists of just a photograph. Go with it, and be creative.

My other idea I am stealing from a meme I first saw on another 21 for 31 blog (who was it, I can't remember and I can't find it, but you did such a good job with it!) Write a letter to the high school you. Tell him or her what to do differently. What s/he can stop worrying about. What s/he OUGHT to start worrying but, etc...If you have already done this meme, how about writing a letter to the 80+-year-old you?

So there you have it. Do it. Or don't. Just Get It Down!

Lova ya'!
