Instead, I will tell you what I forgot to mention earlier. While the broccoli is still just leafy greenness and I am not sure it will live to be much more than a green kind of hope, Georgia's sunflowers and sugar pumpkins are beginning to blossom! We got them in the soil a little late--we waited until after surgery to get them in. Given Vermont's short summer growing season I wasn't sure what would happen...but if we can stave off (with wishes and prayers) the first frost, the sunflowers just might have a chance to reach full form (though I don't think we'll be winning the Sunzilla competition this year). And the pumpkins ought to be ready for pie-baking just in time for Halloween I think!
