My lovely friend Sarah has a party at the end of each summer, hosted on her beautiful deck that overlooks a serene bay of Flathead Lake and a fantastic expanse of the Mission Mountains, a view you can rarely see anywhere else along the east side shoreline.
But the view, and the bay, and the deck, are all just a perfect backdrop for the fantastic women who make time to gather together in August of summer, to reconnect before the demands of school/work/winter settle down upon us all.
It is and was a party where anyone and everyone is invited, as long as you are female. I wrote about it here, and here again, and this year I’m going to be absent from the deck party. And I’m going to miss it. (If you want to meet Sarah? Join Facebook and tell her I sent you, you will recognize her in an instant.)
So this summer at Pinwheels, I’m hosting a virtual deck party. I want you all to attend, anyone who is interested in sharing their thoughts about the past season, their hopes that came true, their dreams that didn’t, their best recipies for dip/appetizers/desserts and their very best recommendations for cute shoes/skirts/jewelry/music (help me out here ladies, I live on a ranch with cows and cowboys), all before the seasons change and winter, however you define it, settles down upon us.
What do the changing seasons mean to you? How do you measure your days? What gives you happiness, with each passing moment? And? What are your best party recipes/clothes/photos/songs? Let’s celebrate!!!
To begin the party, I’m sending emails to a few friends, but I truly hope you’ll invite friends of your own, and that the party will grow, and glow, and carry us all into the fall, which always comes, in my mind, too soon and also, just in time.
I’m inviting you all now: in the comments, please add your own stories, and your own photos and your invites. If you’re a lurker, delurk!!! It’s time for a celebration. Will you help me?
