Speech is what we need to work on. Really, we have a few words, but it is not easy to get more. And as for the signs, we ARE making them for day care this weekend. For sure. Promise (feeling veeeeery guilty about this one).
But see, Vince does not like to concentrate so long. I am seriosly considering trying the Ginko-deal as it is said to increase concentration. I can get him to concentrate on signing about 10 min in the morning, a little during eating, and during his bath. And of course we use the Signing Time DVDs. But I am talking about words, they do not come so easy. And yes, I know, we use 3 languages at home - but see there is no way around that, we simply can not stop using ANY language. I speak Swedish, Bookie German, and we always have spoken English to one another. If we had more kids, we would teach them the same thing, and just because Vince has DS, he does not get to not learn a language. And I have done plenty of research on multilingualism, DS does not make it harder to UNDERSTAND language, but harder to speak. I also know that he does understand what we say to him, regardless of language. So… I googled, listened and learned.
Now, all of you that are using Babblarna, do you like it? Would it be useful for us here too? Do your kids (2years or so) like it? Do you have to follow the whole Karlstad-modellen, or can it work stand alone too??? Are you satisfied?
We have speech therapy every 2 weeks, and it is OK, but like I said, the son does not love paying attention, so that makes it tricky… Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
