Yesterday was our monthly Chick Posse Mom's Night Out. We had dinner plans at a restaurant that happened to be right next door to an Apple Store. The iPhone was set to go on sale at 6pm and our dinner date was at 7pm (although we got there early to get a table). Even though Mom's Night Out is only for moms of kids with special needs, I made an exception this time and invited D.Q.
On the way to the restaurant I kept telling her that this was going to be a great place to find a husband, but she was not impressed. In case you haven't heard, Seattle is pretty much the geek capitol of the Pacific Northwest, if not the world. The Apple store attracts all types of geeks and the Apple Store last night was Geek Central. They were lined up for blocks. I think some of them had been waiting in line for hours. A T.V. news van with cameras was even there.
It wasn't really the tons of waiting geeks who were so entertaining, it was the geeks coming out of the store and milling around the shopping center with their little black iPhone bags. I must admit I was enjoying myself. I was getting into the spirit of things. I kept saying a bit too loudly and facetiously, "Oh, what color is it?" or "Did you get one ??" as if they had just caught a fish. Fun, fun, fun.
On Monday, Sweet Husband, Kellen and I leave for a camping trip to Lake Chelan. D.Q. isn't going because she couldn't get out of work. She is working seven days a week this summer lifeguarding and swim instructing. I made a deal with her that she could use my car while we are gone if I can bring her laptop with me. Yes, they have a wireless connection (for a fee) at the campground. Five other families from the Chick Posse will also be camping at the same campground this week. It should be a blast and there should be lots and lots of blog fodder....so stay tuned. Also, stay tuned to see if Kellen leaves the tent.
