Forget 'big sister', she's ready for the 'mommy' job

Posted Feb 24 2009 12:00am

We're watching our neighbor, Ava, all week. She's barely two. Today we went to Discovery Gateway. On the way home, I had a Diet Coke with me in the front seat. The two girls had sippy cups of milk. Ava asked me for my "drink" several times. I pointed to her milk and repeatedly told her that this was a mommy drink and the milk in her cupholder was her drink. She started to whine a little. So Piper looks over at her and says,

"It sounds like you're ready for a nap."

{Diet Coke almost came out of my nose.}

She was actually ready for a nap, and was out within a few minutes of getting home. I peeked in on her to make sure she was asleep. Of course, Piper needed to "check on her" several times herself. The first time, she was sure Ava needed a stuffed animal to sleep with and put the spotted puppy by her pillow.
