As Sheryl Crow sings, "Everyday is a Winding Road." Some days it feels as if we are traveling down the right path with Kellen...other days it feels as if his gear is stuck in "park". Our measure of success is often: getting out of bed, taking a shower, getting dressed, eating and drinking. If he leaves the house with us, it is a really good day.
Today I went to work during the day and Sweet Husband went to work from 3:30pm - midnight. We passed somewhere on the freeway while DQ was home with Kellen. I call Sweet Husband's cell phone and get the "weather report" in Kellen's time zone. What is the climate in his world? Clouds or sunshine? The report was "sunshine" so when I arrived home I asked Kellen if he wanted to go to Wal*Mart for a Pepsi. He not only said "yes" but got right into the car. I pulled up at the store and he was able to get out of the car by himself, buy a pop from the machine, and come back to the car. Later, he chose to go with me when I went to pick up DQ at work. On the way home, we stopped for a Slurpee. He actually went into 7-11 with me and paid for his own drink. No signs of anxiety. Life is good!
