Down syndrome stereotype broken;)

Posted Jan 18 2010 6:33pm
While walking out of the hospital last Wednesday I heard it again, this time from the nurse hauling my stuff: "Down syndrome kids are always so happy and laid-back." I laughed and told her she was wrong.

Laid back would be the word used to describe this little man: Not this oneUnless of course he is doing what he wants, when he wants and where he wants. Then he is happy. He's far too independent for his own good! Does he misbehave? Not really--acts like a typical 1-2 year old I suppose. But I gotta admit that the whining in restaurants and stores gets a little annoying and I haven't yet learned how to deal with it! It appears Landyn has spoiled me. A sign of Kolby's stubborness is shown in the picture above. He stands up, falls down, and repeats until bored or distracted. That is the only reason he is grinning...because he refuses to smile for me otherwise.
