Will taking acidophilus in conjunction with a strong antibiotuc in any way reduce the effectiveness of the antibiotic?

My son has been perscribed antibiotics as a last resort to get rid of chronic boils. I know the great benefits of taking acidophilis in conjunction w/ antibiotics but I want to be sure that the effectiveness of the antibiotics against the boils is not jepordized.
