Why am I having lower left side pain?

I have been experiencing pain, kind of a dull thud that seems to move around a bit from my left side just below my ribs over to the front of my pelvic area.  Bowel movements are normal as is urine--no blood or discoloration.  So what's up?  Thanks for your help.
