I followed Comfy Tummy's blog to this community, and it looks quite interesting to me.
I have had Ulcerative Colitis since 1987. I've had a few major flares, which luckily always responded to prednisone, so I haven't had any surgery. I spent a brief time in 1995 on 6-MP, but have been resisting going onto it ever since. I really don't want to spend my life immunosuppressed if I can help it.
So, what do I want to do instead? I've become a devotee of Elaine Gottschall's Specific Carbohydrate Diet, which is really a 90s version of a low-carb diet. When I stick to it, it keeps me healthy - it's only when I succumb to carb cravings that I get into trouble. Need to figure out how to love myself enough, I guess.
Anyway, I am hoping to find fellow travellers here!
