I've never been overly impressed with Nebraska. The people are great, the weather...not so much. We haven't had a decent night's sleep in I don't know how long. Last night there were no warnings or watches and we looked forward to a peaceful night where we could sleep straight through and wake up feeling a few steps closer to human. Didn't happen. At about 3:20 we were awoken by the melodic sounds of one inch hail slaming off of our roof, deck, trees, etc. Hail usually only lasts a minute or so. Many minutes later it had only managed to pick up speed and intensity. Katy wandered in to our bedroom and asked if it was time to freak out yet. "No. Not yet." I told her. She really gets anxious during this type of weather so I suggested that we go look at the hail. I also decided to take a photo. It hailed for almost 20 minutes. By the time we got back to bed I was wide awake. I stubbornly stayed in the bed anyway. I started to fall asleep right around the time I needed to get up to get Muffin ready to go to the vet. Poor baby was spayed today and she's back home now but really doesn't feel well and is still pretty dopey from the sedation. She's currently hiding under the bed. Currently we are watching the t.v. with it's big swatches of doom splashed across the screen. We keep switching between watch and warning. As you can see above we are currently in a warning and the sirens are going off again so back down to the basement we go.
