I had a total laparoscopic colectomy in December of 2010. I am doing very well but have occassional small bowel obstructions because of scar tissue due to many abdominal surgeries. Recently I was given Lortab 10 for pain associated with a small bowel obstruction. It didn't seem to work very well.
Do some narcotic pain relievers stay in your system the same length of time or are absorbed less due to the removal of my colon? I know I can't take anything that is time released because there isn't a point to it. But I don't know what to take for the pain of a small bowel obstruction that will work.
