Del Destino Whole Fire Roasted Red Peppers

Posted Aug 18 2010 7:12am

roasted-peppersNothing beats a freshly roasted red pepper, but when you don’t have the time to roast them yourself, these come in a close second. I’ve already eaten my way through two or three jars of these. They were one of the first products I bought with my new Costco membership, so these jars are big! 35 ounces.

The ingredients are: Red Peppers, Water, Citric Acid, and Salt.

The jar also says: From our best fields, we have selected only first quality peppers to go through an artisan roasting process. With an excellent texture, these peppers are peeled in the flames of a slow fire, giving them a sweet and delicious smoked flavor. Product of Peru.

What was the most surprising thing to me about these peppers is that they are indeed WHOLE roasted peppers. The tops have been sliced off and the insides removed, but the entire rest of the pepper is intact. Usually, when you buy roasted peppers in a jar or can, it’s always segments or slices. These you have to cut up yourself.

They’re great on salads, as a side dish with meat or eggs or beans, great as a snack with some cheese, etc. I love them because they’re a great way for me to easily sneak more veggies into my diet.
