They did the first-ever diabetes audit of 200 hospitals and got surprised. Twenty percent (twice the expected number) of hospitalized patients in the UK are diabetic ... and ... they stay in the hospital longer.
Now, they want all diabetics admitted to the hospital to be given access to "specialist advice". That's very interesting ... as it comes within one week after Medicare slashed consultation codes, a move that could very easily lead to decreased access to specialist care in the United States.
