Novo Nordisk announces that LIRAGLUTIDE has been approved by the European Commission and the drug will be launched this summer in the United Kingdom, Denmark and Germany. It will be launched throughout the rest of Europe later in 2009 and into 2010.
The drug will be called VICTOZA.
The FDA Advisory Panel in the United States "punted" on LIRAGLUTIDE a few months back when one of the 13 member panel decided to abstain from voting, leaving a 6-6 deadlock.
