You get early clues when they start asking if there are any "less expensive" medications they can use ... or ... you see a sudden change in attitude towards generic medications.

The problem is much more significant when the medications are stopped without our knowledge. No one should alter their compliance with a prescription medication without first contacting the prescribing physician -- we'll do the best we can to consider an alternative.

We always wonder how many "health care dollars" are wasted simply keeping track of everyone's "doughnut hole" and what is spent repairing the damage done when patients abandon the medications when they become more expensive?
