For the past few weeks my face has been extremely itchy. Then I noticed that my hands were itchy and within a day or two my feet were also itching. The itching is so intense that I have to stop what I'm doing and scratch the bottom of my feet with my keys. It is maddening. I have been using topical Benedryl which seems to help for a few minutes.
I checked my glucose with my husbands machine and I got a few high readings like 153 and 232 - but usually it is between 100 and 116.
Has anyone been told that itching like this was related to diabetes? My doctor wants me to come in and have blood work for diabetes. From what I read, this type of itching wouldn't occur unless the diabetes was advanced.
Does anyone have any experience with this or any knowledge?
