By almost twice as much as the state average, physicians in Dallas charge more to treat patients with Type 2 diabetes -- an annual charge $6,992 per patient. That's more than four times that seen in neighboring Fort Worth.
"This confirms what we already know from other recent studies that medical charges in Dallas are among the highest in the country," said Marianne Fazen, executive director of the Dallas Fort Worth Business Group on Health.

Perhaps we need to consider the idea of Dallas being a hotbed for financially lucrative opportunities.  Doctors will charge what the market and insurance companies will pay.  Necessary or unnecessary doctors will perform tests and recommend treatments based on there financial value rather than necessity.

Maybe we should consider this with all of health care in general.
