Posted Mar 31 2010 7:30pm
Diabetes is a very bad disorder of the body threatening people of all ages. It is too bad if the case is juvenile diabetes affecting the kids leading to obesity. The occurrence of type 1diabetes mellitus may increase obesity if not properly treated. Along with obesity, there are many other risks like heart problem at an early age, numbness in hands and feet, continual itching at various parts of body, and losing vision clarity. To some parents, the child care may be felt as a burden when it comes to protecting child from future risks at an early age.

Signs diabetes in children

1. Obesity: The child prone to juvenile diabetes suffers from autoimmune destruction of insulin producing beta cells. When there is insufficient production of insulin, the consumed food is not absorbed by the blood cells. As the food is not burnt, there is an increased level of blood glucose. The fats are stored in the body making the child obese.

2. Fatigue: The child with juvenile diabetes is seen fatigue at times. This is due to the body losing energy as there is low energy production with insufficient insulin secretion.

3. Dullness: The child is seen not interested in anything such as playing, reading books, or even looking at TV.

Home treatment to protect the child

The child prone to juvenile diabetes does not know what exactly the problem is. The child always likes to be alone lacking physical vigor to play with other children or participate in routine activities. In such situation, the responsibility is with the parents.

1. The parents should consult a doctor to get guidelines on child care with diabetes type 1.

2. The child should be fed with nutritious diet food that contains essential minerals and
vitamins. Fresh vegetables and fruits with less sugar should be given to the child to consume.

3. Ice cream, butter, and whole milk cheese shall be given to eat but not daily.
