If you read the post below you know Sept 19-20 is the first-ever high-level UN Summit on non-communicable diseases. Diabetes is one of the four that promises to derail the global economy if we don't do something about stemming its tide.
On Sunday, Sept. 18th, the day before the Summit, all are invited to join in afternoon festivities in Manhattan's Central Park near the NY Academy of Medicine at 105th Street.
The rally, sponsored by the International Diabetes Federation among others, aims to draw more attention to the Summit, urging governments to provide the kind of environment, infrastructure, education and treatment for healthier living. Phil Southerland of Team Type 1 will be there, there'll be a parade, jump rope and a mural being painted dedicated to the Summit.
