Permanent Link: at the vet

I had to take my cat to the vet this morning. I saw him straining in the litter box and later sounding pained meows as he tried to curl up. I snapped this photo with my cell phone while we were waiting in the reception area (he’s in his pet bag). Though I don’t know what he was thinking, his expression kind of reminded me of, well, how I feel when I’m waiting for my name to be called so the nurse can take me into the ECT treatment room.

We are later led to the exam room where the technician asks me questions about what’s been going on with the cat. He’s weighed and has his temperature taken. And we wait for the doctor.

I am not allowed to take photos during my ECT, so I pulled out my cell phone to take a photo during my cat’s appointment.  While I really wish I could get some photos from my appointment, the look on the cat’s face actually captures how I feel when I’m all hooked up on the bed and just waiting for my doctor to arrive. You are surrounded by all the medical equipment (or veterinary stuff, in this case), and even if you’ve been there before, there is always a sense of apprehension that comes over you.

He has a urethral obstruction and has to be kept at the hospital for a few days (just got a call that he’s probably going to need surgery). As he goes through his procedure, I’ll be having my own treatment tomorrow. I hadn’t really thought much about tomorrow until I looked at this photo. I am now feeling quite anxious about Wednesday’s little spark.
