My Favourite Things

Posted May 08 2011 8:33pm

“When I’m feeling sad, I simply remember my favourite things and then I don’t feel so bad” Julie Andrews sings in The Sound of Music . Sounds pretty easy and on my road to recovery, I’m open to anything so it’s worth a try! For my next post I’ll jot down my own favourite things but for now I’ll give her suggestions a go:

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittensHmm, sounds like a nice greeting card but not my favourite, NEXT…

Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittensSeriously, kettles?! Warm woollen mittens brings to mind a crisp frosty night going for a walk in the cold all bundled up warm and cosy, yep that could work!

Brown paper packages tied up with strings– Definitely exciting to get anything in the post (not work related or bills) and if the sender has gone to the trouble to wrap the parcel nicely, it must be good!

Cream coloured ponies and crisp apple streudels – Nah, streudel does sound good but won’t beat chocolate or cheesecake…definitely a favourite!

Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles– Doorbell… yes (disappointing when turns out to be political, religious or the police!). Sleighbells bring to mind Christmas…right at the top of the favourites list, thanks Julie! Schnitzel with noodles…what am I, a student with no groceries or money?!

Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings – Ok, so they’re not as bad as pigeons but I’m generally not a fan of flying objects. Minus the geese flying at night (where are they going so late anyway?!), I do like a night sky… moon, stars yep that’s a favourite.

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes – A favourite. Memories of twirling & swirling around in a new dress as a little girl, feeling all ladylike and pretty, then getting bored of fancy and ending up in mischief. Not much has changed there..

Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes – Yes, a beautiful snowfall has never lost it’s magic no matter how inconvenient it makes the trek to work. Favourite

Silver white winters that melt into springs– Sounds slushy and wet *shudder* I’ll skip this one and come up with my own replacements. Can’t promise to rhyme though!!! Stay posted…
