I have decided to work on getting off my psychiatric drugs. [see below]. Any doctors who specialize in this?

Hashimoto's Disease (since 1999)
Interstitial Cystitis (2003)
Pernicious Anemia (1999)
Genetic Hemachromatosis (2005?)

Severe Depression began 2002 - Treated with SSRI's (bad reaction)
2003 New psych diagnosed me as Bipolar II, but could not level me.  Continued changing cocktails for years.
2009 Another new psych. diagnosed me as ADHD with severe depression.  Discounted Bipolar diagnosis.  Has had me on Effexor XR and amphetamines to control both.  Not any better.

Hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (2004)

Current treatments:

Estrogen implants (last 4 to 5 months)
Phlebotomies to lower Ferritin levels (last tested at 22)  :)
B12 shots monthly

Gained 30+ lbs. within 6 months.  Tired, fatigued, depressed, anxious, achy, hair loss, to mention a few problems.

Endocrin. added T3 to my levothyroxine (T4) to remedy under-treated thyroid.  Lost 8 lbs within 10 days and felt better.  However, eventually resumed depression and anxiety.  Can't help but wonder if thyroid is one major cause of dep. and anxiety, and the psych meds are combating the results of the thyroid meds.  (just as giving psych meds to a "well" person would make them feel "off").

Won't know anything until I can get to square one (no psych meds).  Slowly, of course.  Just have a feeling that I am receiving treatment for the wrong problem.
